Discover the Nahe wine region

The rich and varied Nahe, with vineyards covering about 4,300 hectares, provides the best growing conditions for excellent wines. Its mild temperatures and abundance of sunshine create an ideal climate for Rivaner, Silvaner and Riesling grapes. The Pinot and Kerner varieties, Scheurebe, Portugieser and Dornfelder complete the Nahe range. The origin of this wide variety is the region's turbulent geological past. For millions of years the ground was constantly shaken by volcanic activity during the formation of the Nahe rift valley. In places, the soil (slate, volcanic porphyry, loess and clay soils) changes every hundred metres and each of these different geological formations subtly alters the taste of the wine.

White wines

A quarter of the Nahe's vineyards are planted with this grape variety. Nahe Rieslings have a distinctly fruity taste, with hints of apple or peach, underpinned by strong mineral aromas. White Nahe wines from handpicked grapes are highly rated around the world. They can be dry, semi-dry or noble sweet.

559 hectares of Nahe vineyards are planted with Müller-Thurgau grapes. This distinctly fruity variety can have a pronounced note of nutmeg and develops intense aromas in the Nahe's rich soils.
