The traditional open-air market attracts visitors to the town, with a wide range of goods from jewellery to household goods and spices. Market traders from France display their local produce in the French Market on Kirchenplatz. The traditional Gießen Autumn Fair on Messeplatz also doubles as a large festival with funfair-like rides.
The Christmas Market in Limburg attracts visitors daily with its festively decorated market stalls and a special atmosphere in the Old Town from the end of November until Christmas. The beautifully restored half-timbered houses, winding alleys and picturesque squares create a perfect atmosphere for a pleasant stroll, a chat over mulled wine and the festive pre-Christmas atmosphere.
