The Nahe Cycle Route offers a wealth of exciting and beautiful things to see and do along its 128 kilometre length. The landscape alternates between natural pastures, fertile vineyards and rugged cliffs. You can enjoy urban life on the Nahe Cycle Tour in the gem centre of Idar-Oberstein or in the spa towns of Bad Kreuznach, Bad Sobernheim and Bad Münster am Stein-Ebernburg. Electric bikes make any cycle tour child's play – even if you choose to head up onto the Hunsrück plateaus.
The Nahe Cycle Route is one of the most beautiful German river cycle routes. Wine, wellness and gemstones – bizarre cliffs, forests and steep vineyards characterise the landscape, with the route itself mostly following the course of the river Nahe.
The route runs for 120 kilometres, all the way from the source of the Nahe to the town of Bingen, where it flows into the Rhine, past Idar-Oberstein, Germany's gemstone capital, famous for its dazzling gems and exquisite jewellery. The most beautiful examples of local minerals can be admired at the German Gemstone Museum. The disused Steinkaulenberg agate mine is also well worth a visit. After Idar-Oberstein the cycle route runs past vine-clad slopes. Staying overnight with a wine grower is a great opportunity to taste local wines at their source.
In the Nahe region's three spas and health resorts, the focus is on health and fitness. How about a visit to the Bäderhaus spa complex in Bad Kreuznach, one of the most beautiful sauna facilities in Germany? Beyond Bad Kreuznach the Nahe valley opens out into a landscape of wide river meadows. Bingen and the Rhine are now very close.

Regardless of whether your cycle tour takes you through sunny vineyards, along the River Nahe or up into the higher Hunsrück villages, an electric bike will take the strain out of your cycling efforts. 25 hire centres with currently around 80 bikes, are available from the E-bike-Naheland online reservation system. Even one-way hires are possible, for instance starting on Lake Bostal and returning the bike in Bingen on the Rhine. And very importantly – all companies involved work together to adhere to uniformly stringent quality standards. E-Bike-Naheland is the friendly interaction of regional cycle retailers, tourist information offices and local cafés, restaurants and accommodation.
