Nahe Region

The Nahe region has been particularly blessed with natural riches. The river Nahe, one of the Rhine's tributaries, passes a region whose fruity, aromatic wines captivate lovers of the grape.
A glass of wine may sparkle like a jewel, but the gemstones from the area around Idar-Oberstein are the Nahe region's real treasures. Idar-Oberstein is known around the world as Germany's gemstone centre and a visit to the German Gemstone Museum here is a must. Once you have seen the glittering gemstones or watched them being cut and polished, it only takes a little imagination to become a treasure hunter in the Nahe region's many castles.
