Discover cycling country rich in variety and charm along the German Wine Route and the Rhine, one of the most spectacular rivers in Europe. Our cycle tour begins in the heart of the German Wine Route and sends you down to its southern reaches near the border with Alsace in France. The Rhineland Plain then provides a variety of backdrops as you continue through glorious woodland and sprawling tobacco fields and along the remnants of the old Rhine. Moving onto the Rheinhessen and Palatinate wine regions, there are plenty of places to enjoy a glass or two of wine in the vineyard where it was made.

Cultural heritage sites
As you make your way through a region that has been cultivated for more than 2,000 years, you can look forward to seeing some of Germany‘s finest historical attractions, from the cathedrals in Speyer and Worms to Schwetzingen Palace with its magnificent park. Before your tour ends in Neustadt an der Weinstrasse – the wine capital of Germany and the venue for the coronation of the wine queen – the route features a number of places that bear witness to the long and fascinating history of Jewish people in the region.

Route characteristics
Flat cycle paths in the Rhine Valley. Gentle hills in the vineyards around Neustadt
an der Weinstrasse – easily negotiable even for less-experienced cyclists. Alternative routes are available to avoid especially steep sections for people cycling purely for leisure.

Here you will find a detailed description of the tour - day by day.
