Are you afraid of heights? Geierlay suspension bridge, 360 metres long and 100 metres above the Mörsdorfer Bach valley between the municipalities of Sosberg (Cochem-Zell district) and Mörsdorf (Rhein-Hunsrück district), holds the promise of a ‘vertiginous adventure’.
Modelled on Nepalese suspension bridges, the ‘Geierlay suspension bridge’ spans the valley from one bridgehead to the other. The name was selected in a competition and refers to the district in which it is located. The new visitor centre in Mörsdorf, which also houses a restaurant, is the first point of contact for the suspension bridge.
A path connects the bridge to the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, a 410-kilometre premium hiking trail between Perl on the Moselle, Trier and Boppard on the Rhine, which can also be accessed from other smaller trails.
A unique experience in Germany, at a dizzying height above the treetops of Hunsrück, awaits you! www.geierlay.de
