Museum of Castle's Garden - Schloßparkmuseum
This museum was once the hall of Bangert manor (Rittergut Bangert) and parts of the 19th century interior have been preserved. It now holds the town history and art collections.
One focus of the town history collection is the history of Bangert manor and its owners and their relation to the town of Kreuznach. The museum documents the change from Rittergut, an estate of the free nobility, to an upper middle class Schlösschen or mansion around the turn of the century. A section on the town in the 19th century, when Kreuznach was a leading spa resort, is another aspect of the town history exhibition.
Sculptures by the Bad Kreuznach Cauer dynasty of sculptors are a major museum attraction. The Schloßparkmuseum collection ranges from works by Emil Cauer the Elder (1800–1867), genre works from the Biedermeier period, to pieces by the following generations of Cauers, and illustrates the many areas in which the artists worked: small-format genre sculpture, portrait busts, grave art, public art and art in public buildings.
A collection of drawings, watercolours and paintings of scenes of the town and surrounding region from the 19th and early 20th centuries give visitors a flavour of the old Kreuznach and of the region’s natural beauty.
