200,000 YEARS OF CULTURAL HISTORY

The Landesmuseum's art and cultural history collection extends from the Stone Age to the present day. Among them are gold jewelry, shields and swords from prehistoric times, stone monuments from the Roman Empire, sculptures and tablets from the Middle Ages, paintings from the Renaissance, painting, furniture and porcelain from the Baroque period, treasures from the 19th century and precious objects from Art Nouveau. And the works of modernism by Max Liebermann, Lovis Corinth or Pablo Picasso attract fans from all over the world to the State Museum. Also worth seeing: The impressive baroque ensemble of the State Museum with modern glass and steel construction as well as the electoral stables and the riding hall is worth a visit.
