Kunigundenstrasse: This street in the southwest area of the old town was, up to the year 1895, originally an extension of the Metzgergasse
(butcher’s street). Its name can be traced back to the woman who saved Neustadt from the aftermath of the Palatinate War of Succession in 1689.
The daughter of one of Neustadt’s noble citizens, Kunigunde Kirchner, was able to save the town of Neustadt from destruction by expressing her love for the French General de Werth.
