Schmiede Theis | Otterberg

Originally built in 1612 outside the walls of the monastery, this estate has been in the possession of the Theis family for seven generations and was in use as a smithy until as recently as 1980. The smithy is one of the oldest in the region and has been fully restored as a farrier museum complete with a pair of leather bellows and a solid sandstone forge. It is open to the public on the first Saturday of every month at 3.30.
