Little Venice in Bad Kreuznach
A row of houses stands where the Ellerbach stream flows into the Nahe, and their picturesque rear façades are right on the river wall. Lack of space even forced people to build on the town wall itself during the Middle Ages. New development has respected and incorporated the historic structures, and the result is an attractive and harmonious architectural whole. The Ellerbach flows through the historic New Town and was used for many centuries as a drainage channel by tanners, butchers and local residents. People built right up to the banks and even across the Ellerbach at some points.
