Experiencing nature in Rhineland-Palatinate is unique and diversifying: gorgeous stream landscapes, mysterious volcanoes and endless vineyards. Furthermore, nature conservation is considered vital in Rhineland-Palatinate. Large areas of two national and eight regional parks are under special protection and offer ideal living conditions for rare and special animal and plant species, which therefore have the possibility to develop firmly in a safe environment. Almost half of Rhineland-Palatinate is covered by wood. Especially valuable and worthy of protection is the native European beech.
